28 Barbary Lane

For this project, I worked with Troy from Gold Door Coffee to illustrate a label for their first In-house Coffee Blend, 28 Barbary Lane. Gold Door Coffee is Canada’s first zero waste coffee company (can I get a hell yes?), and a company that values not only sustainability, but cultivating and giving back to their community with LGBTQ+ stories and issues at the forefront.

The inspiration for the name and the artwork comes from the famous San Fransisco home in Armistead Maupin's series 'Tales of the City', which was groundbreaking queer literature throughout the 80’s. The articles, turned novels, turned television series, were focused solely on the lives of LGBTQIA2+ peoples and the difficulties the community faced just for being themselves.

This label truly welcomes you with open arms, colourfully representing acceptance and chosen family.
